David Brancato was the first instructor to introduce Hope to portrait painting, beginning with black-and-white studies. Through Bob Ross–related training, Hope learned from David in 2018 and 2019 and completed her first portrait of her husband under his guidance. His focus on detail and his willingness to share a great deal of information early in the learning process made a lasting impact on how Hope approaches portrait work.
