Bill Alexander–inspired oil study by Hope Blakely with a dramatic sky built from alizarin crimson and cadmium orange, painted by following one of Alexander’s recorded lessons.
Bill Alexander — wet-on-wet oil painter and television instructor
Our Story

Hope did not study with Bill Alexander in person, but has learned from his available instructional videos. Alexander was Bob Ross’s mentor and one of the best-known television teachers of the wet-on-wet oil technique. His bold brushwork, high energy, and fearless attitude toward painting remain an important part of the technique’s history and of the broader tradition Hope continues to study.

Workshops and Events

Hope studies Bill Alexander through his recorded painting programs. His bold use of strong color—especially fiery reds and oranges—offers valuable lessons in building dramatic skies and confident wet-on-wet landscapes.
