Bold, elegant, and just a little bit dramatic — this vibrant blue-and-gold macaw absolutely owns the spotlight. His proud stance and bright plumage were inspired by a photo I took at Denver Zoo, but the moody plum backdrop was born right here in my studio in Arvada, Colorado.

🪄 I painted The Showman using a traditional glazing method — slowly, layer by layer, to build depth and let the light sing through the feathers. This wasn’t a quick piece. It took nearly three months of patient work to coax the brilliance from the shadows, balancing the warmth of the golds against the cool blues to give him that electric, “take a bow” presence.

🖌️ Each layer was designed to capture the way sunlight catches those feathers in real life. The rich purple background enhances his vibrant color, giving him center stage — just as he deserves.
