Meet Sean Mullins: Painter, Craftsman, and a Cheerful Force in the Art World

Updated: 5 days ago

If you’ve ever attended a Kevin Hill workshop, chances are you’ve met Sean Mullins — maybe even before you sat down to paint. He’s the guy bringing brushes, mixing paint, cracking jokes, and somehow managing to make every student feel like they belong there.

But Sean’s more than just the workshop helper. He’s a seasoned artist, a Bob Ross instructor, a Florida local, and the heart behind Rustic Oak Sawmill, where he crafts charcuterie boards, and decorative centerpieces from raw wood. Whether he's painting serene swamps or shaping reclaimed lumber, Sean’s creativity is constant — and it’s always personal. Many of Sean’s paintings are finished with handcrafted frames — the fine woodworking is done by James Stevens, whose skill adds the final touch of craftsmanship to each piece.

Based in Williston, Florida, Sean has carved out a life full of craftsmanship, community, and color. Though trained in Bob Ross techniques, he usually paints his own scenes — often quiet, Southern landscapes with the kind of atmospheric light that makes you feel like you're standing right there beside him.

We’re honored to feature one of his original oil paintings in the Blakely Art Collection — not as part of our permanent holdings, but on behalf of Sean, who retains full ownership and profit from the sale.

🎨 Featured Painting: Sunset on St. Johns River

This 16x20 oil painting captures the soft glow of sunset along one of Florida’s most iconic rivers. It’s unframed, done on stretched canvas, and priced at $650.

Sean’s brushwork brings a gentle rhythm to the water and sky — the kind of piece that makes you take a deeper breath without realizing it. It’s a signature Florida landscape, painted by someone who knows these waters well.

Whether he’s painting a seascape or helping a workshop full of artists feel supported and seen, Sean Mullins brings joy and generosity to everything he does. He’s a craftsman, a painter, and — let’s be honest — a bit of a legend in the art circles we love.

We’re proud to share his work, and even prouder to know him.
