J.D. Wayne — also known as The Rock and Roll Painter — brings a whole lot of personality, passion, and precision to every canvas. Based in Richmond, Indiana, JD has studied under some of the greats, including Bill Alexander, Dana Jester, Steve Ross, Marion Dutton, Bob Ross, and Gary Jenkins. But what truly sets him apart is his unique style, upbeat teaching energy, and lightning-fast brushwork.
JD is known in the painting community for his bold approach, his stunning charcoal portraits (yes, even Ozzy Osbourne has made an appearance), and the way he blends art with his love of music. He's a regular at Dana and Steve’s workshops — and also leads his own enrichment classes, where he keeps things fun, fast-paced, and full of encouragement. If you're lucky enough to take a class with him, be ready to laugh, learn, and maybe even grab a drink afterward.
I’ve had the joy of painting with JD many times over the years, from Bob Ross-style workshops to Kevin Hill classes in Clarksville. He’s the kind of artist who shows up with enthusiasm, supports everyone around him, and still finds time to send hand-painted cards — often with a personal music connection my husband and he share.
JD takes commissions and often shares his latest work on Facebook. Whether it's a quick mountain scene or a dramatic portrait in charcoal, every piece comes with his signature edge — and a touch of rock and roll soul.
