Winter Creek: A Marion Dutton Original You Can See at Our Open House

Marion Dutton's Winter Walkies

One of the greatest joys of curating the Blakely Art Collection is getting to work with artists I deeply admire, not just for their skill with a brush but for the heart they put into their work. Marion Dutton is one of those rare people who brings both.

Marion is an accomplished painter, but she’s also an incredible teacher. Through her MazArt Academy, she has taught thousands of students around the world how to paint — whether they’re just picking up a brush for the first time or refining years of practice. Her approachable, down-to-earth teaching style makes painting feel possible for everyone. And it’s not just technique she shares, but encouragement, joy, and a sense of creativity that stretches far beyond the canvas.

I’ve been lucky enough to know Marion personally, and every time I talk with her, I walk away inspired. She has a way of making you believe in your own creativity. Having her work as part of the Blakely Art Collection is more than an honor — it feels like bringing a piece of her spirit into the gallery.

At our upcoming Open House, you’ll have the chance to see one of her original works in person: Winter Creek.

This 2023 acrylic painting (8x12, matted to 12x16) is a study in stillness and subtle beauty. A quiet stream winds its way through snowy banks, cool tones capturing the hush of a winter day. It’s the kind of painting that doesn’t just show you a scene — it invites you into it. The longer you stand before it, the more you notice: the soft edges of snow, the rhythm of the flowing water, the calm that seems to settle over everything.

Winter Creek is available for $525, but more than its price, it carries Marion’s signature gift — the ability to turn an ordinary moment into something extraordinary.

And Winter Creek is just one of several Marion Dutton works in the Blakely Art Collection. Other featured pieces include Golden Meadow, Gentle Eyes, Golden Winter Whispers, and Winter Walkies — each one carrying her unmistakable blend of warmth and creativity.

Marion’s influence has stretched across continents through MazArt, but here in Arvada, Colorado, we’re lucky to showcase her originals in person. And that’s something no video or tutorial can replace — standing in front of a painting, seeing the brushstrokes, feeling the presence of the work.

I can’t wait to share Winter Creek with you at our Open House, alongside many other beautiful originals. Come see it for yourself, spend some time in the gallery, and join me in celebrating the artists who make this Collection so special.

Hope Blakely
